Ultrasound technology works by delivering minute acoustic vibrations via a quartz crystal transducer to convert electrical energy to ultrasonic waves (ultrasound) at specific frequencies. The energy generated from these ultrasonic waves can be absorbed by proteins in skin tissues for both cosmetic and therapeutic purposes. Quite simply, ultrasound utilizes sound energy in the form of sound waves to disrupt the assembly of the dermis/epidermis cells to create channels in the skin to both draw out cellular debris and dead skin cells while allowing the nutrients in cosmetic skin care products to penetrate deep into the dermis.
The FACE Ultra-3 uses a 3 megahertz (MHz) frequency, which is recommended for use on the face and can also be used on the body. Ultrasound waves require a conductor to transmit their energy into the skin, so the use of a conducting gel (we recommend O2 Calming Gel) is necessary.
